Lee Heights Starbucks

Outside shot of Starbucks. Currently only our outside seating is avalible.

When a coustomer walks in, they are greeted by workers and various treats and drinks. All of our options are displayed on the menu board above, with a few food items on display.

As we prepare to open up for the long and busy day ahead, one of the main tasks that a barista does in the morning is setting up the food case. Since the case was fully cleaned the night before, all of the food options that we offer are placed back in the case so customers easily see all of their options.

Starbucks provides freshly brewed coffee from open to close. In the morning we offer four different roasts of coffee, blonde roast, dark roast, pike place, and decaf. Every thirty minutes we brew a fresh batch to ensure that it stays nice and hot. Around noon we only brew pike since it our most popular, but still offer the other options upon request. Since we serve customers who work long hours and night shifts, it is essential to us that we are able to provide the caffeine that they need.

Making customer connections makes the coffee experience so much more enjoyable for the customer as well as the baristas. It's always amazing when we see familiar faces come back simply because they enjoy our services. When new customers walk through the door, we make it our goal to greet them and make them feel as welcome as possible. Asking customers about their days and plans creates a more welcoming environment that keeps customers coming back.

Starbucks is all about making things personal and ensuring that customers feel welcome. It is important to ask the cutomers for their names to allow for an easier pick up, but also so we get to know our customers. This way when returning customers come in our store, we are able to greet them by their name.

Pictured here is what we call our "Cold Bar Station". This is where many of our iced drinks such as frappuccinos, teas, ice coffee, and cold brew.

This is a point of view of me making a drink on our espresso bar.

Making delicious coffee and drinks is a barista's biggest job. We love seeing the smiles on the customers faces when they take that first sip of their drink. Making sure that the customer is getting exactly what they ordered is also very important.

Around noon time in between our morning peak and afternoon peak (our busiest hours) it is very essential that we take that time to clean. Along with cleaning our coffee stations, hot bar and cold bar, one of the main pieces of equipment that we like to keep clean is the oven.

Working in such a busy and fast paced environment, creates a large amount of trash. Throughout the work day we do several “trash runs” as we call it, where we collect all the trash from the store and take it out to the dumpster.

Keeping count of the food that we use is very important so we know how much we need to order to make it through the next day.
